The current version of the LanguaL™ Food Product Indexer, version 3.99
October
2013, and the LanguaL™ Thesaurus 2013 can be downloaded here. Please note that if
you only want to update the LanguaL™ software (langual.exe) or the thesaurus
database, you should NOT use these files, but choose one of the other options below.
The LanguaL™ Food Product Indexer and LanguaL™ Thesaurus 2013 can be
downloaded in one zipped file. This option is mainly for a new
installation of the LanguaL™ Food Product Indexer:
- The LanguaL™ Food Product Indexer software (October 2013)
including the LanguaL™ 2013 thesaurus database
Right
click here to download (15 MB) the zipped file.
- Save the file
(choose "Save Target As..." in Internet Explorer, "Save Link As..."
in FireFox, ...) in a new directory on a hard or flash drive, and
unzip the files in the same directory.
The LanguaL™ Food Product Indexer is now ready for use by clicking
the LanguaL.exe file.

Spanish (12 MB, pdf file). The tutorial contains information
about the installation and use of the LanguaL™ Food Product Indexer
software.

To install only the new version of the LanguaL™ Food Product Indexer software
in an existing installation, follow the procedure below:
- Locate your current version of the LanguaL™ Food Product
Indexer software in Windows Explorer. It is typically in a
folder named \LanguaL. Make a copy of the executable
(LanguaL.exe) or rename it for safety reasons:
a. In Windows Explorer, right click the LanguaL.exe
b. Choose Rename and rename the file (e.g. to LanguaL_old.exe)
- Download the new version of the LanguaL™ Food Product
Indexer version 3.99 (LanguaL_3_99.zip, zipped file, 800 kB):
a. Right click here to download the zipped file and
save the file
(choose "Save Target As..." in Internet
Explorer or "Save Link As..." in FireFox)
b. Find the folder with the old version of
LanguaL.exe (the file you just renamed above)
c. Click Save to save the file in the folder
d. Extract (unzip) the LanguaL.zip file making the
LanguaL.exe available in the same folder (default
\LanguaL)
The most recent version of the LanguaL™ Food Product Indexer should
now be ready to use. Double click the LanguaL.exe or an eventual
shortcut on the desktop to launch the software.
You should now see the text LanguaL™ 20xx - Food Product
Indexer Version 3.99 [October 2011] in the top left hand
corner of the software. The year 20xx depends on the version of the
LanguaL™ Thesaurus you are using.

If you only want to update the LanguaL™ Thesaurus to the newest
version, follow this instruction
- Locate the current version of the LanguaL™ Food Product Indexer's
database. in Windows Explorer. The database file is called
LanguaL.mdb and is by default placed in the ...\Data folder
just under the LanguaL folder (the folder where LanguaL.exe is
situated, see above)*.
- Make a copy of the current database by right clicking the file
LanguaL.mdb, then click Copy followed by right click and Paste (or
[Ctrl]+[v]). A file named LanguaL - Copy.mdb (or Copy of LanguaL.mdb) is created in the same
folder (default \LanguaL\Data).
- Download
the zipped file of the LanguaL™ 2013 Thesaurus (LanguaLTree2013.zip,
zipped file, 4 MB) to the folder where the LanguaL™ software is
located.
- Save the file (e.g. choose "Save Target As..." in
Internet Explorer or "Save Link As..." in FireFox) in the same
folder as the langual.exe file (default \LanguaL).
NB! - NOT in the same folder as the LanguaL.mdb file.
- Extract (unzip) the LanguaLTree2013.zip file making the
LanguaLTree.mdb file available in the same folder (default
\LanguaL). If the extraction software suggest another folder,
correct the folder name to the one in which you have the LanguaL.exe
file.
The most recent version of the LanguaL™ 2013 Thesaurus will now be installed
when the LanguaL™ Food Product Indexer is started the next time. It takes
a while to update the LanguaL™ thesaurus in the software, and you will
need to answer OK for updating the thesaurus and for each language
installed in the software.
After installation, LanguaL™ 2013 will appear in the upper left
hand corner of the LanguaL™ Food Product Indexer.
* if this is not the case, open the LanguaL™ Food Product Indexer and
click File > Show database location. Note the database location and
close the LanguaL™ Food Product Indexer and start again.
